SUMMARY

The Turnaround Superintendent role creates significant value by delivering safe, productive, efficient and effective Turnarounds to ensure our facilities run safely and reliably over the desired time between Turnarounds as specified by the business and technology. Key areas of responsibility include team building, KPI monitoring & management, management and adherence to the established Turnaround Process, Turnaround cost analysis and continuous improvement plans. This person will interface between operations, reliability, engineering, maintenance and contractors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support and drive accident prevention and environmental excellence.
  • Ensure all Turnaround activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally sound manner while adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  • Lead the core Turnaround Team to ensure effective work coordination, planning, scheduling, cost management, and material management.
  • Owns and is accountable for compliance with and proper application of the Turnaround Work Process.
  • Ensure development of a thorough EH&S plan for Turnarounds to prevent injuries and releases.
  • Drive a One Team mindset for Turnarounds and related activities.
  • Interaction with operations, maintenance, supply chain, engineering, HSE and business, as well as, senior management is a key component of the job requirements. Lead Turnaround Phase-Gate Reviews and provide regular updates to Turnaround Steering Team.

• Facilitates Turnaround Steering Team discussions to align operations, projects, maintenance, and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) functions. • Develops and maintains the Turnaround schedules and Turnaround budgets.

  • Control the cost and timing of Turnarounds to meet the business needs and site expectations by working to develop good work inventories, working within budget boundaries and with minimal scope creep.
  • Drive development of TA Work Scope Premise and completed work scope by freeze date, enforce administrative controls for add-on's after freeze date.
  • Drive the development of an integrated schedule (operations, projects, and maintenance) with defined critical path and competing critical paths.
  • Drive effective project controls during Turnaround execution.
  • Working with operational and maintenance counterparts prepare accurate monthly cost forecasts for Turnaround spending.
  • Annual budgeting process, forecasting, and cost reporting functions.
  • Prepares, plans, executes and communicates post Turnaround critiques.
  • Ensures plans are updated and archived for future Turnarounds.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

5. Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of others. Promptly report Safety, Health or Environmental issues or incidents to management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.
  • Engineering Degree preferred with 7 years of maintenance experience in an industrial chemical plant or minimum 10 years extensive Turnaround experience in industrial chemical plant operations.
  • Demonstrated Proven Safety Leader.
  • Strong Interpersonal, Facilitative and Organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Production, Maintenance and Engineering department peers, managers, supervisors and crafts persons.
  • Candidate should have direct experience with plant turnarounds and extensive knowledge related to team building, scope development, planning, scheduling, project controls and execution.
  • Must satisfy motor vehicle record screening requirements established by the company and/or its automobile insurer.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required
