Westlake Royal Building Products is Hiring a Buyer/Planner Near Salisbury, NC

The Buyer I is responsible for procuring goods and services from designated suppliers to support manufacturing at our Salisbury/Spencer, NC plant. Key to succeeding in this role will be the ability to accurately forecast direct material requirements to support the production plan utilizing SAP.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Comply with Westlake Royal Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Reviews production schedules, supplier lead time, and related information and utilizes SAP to determine direct material requirements for Purchase Order (PO) placement
  • Review safety stock and min/max levels for inventoried items periodically and adjust to support delivery of materials at the right place, time, and quantity to support operations
  • Update Master Data as required in SAP
  • Process purchase requisitions for expense items as required
  • Ensure all goods and services are procured according to technical specifications
  • Utilize preferred suppliers and contract pricing when available
  • Receive acknowledgement of Purchase Orders, expedite to meet delivery date and track till close
  • Communicate open PO status weekly to stakeholders
  • Track root cause for on time delivery misses/stock outs and implement corrective action
  • Act as a liaison between supplier and Division Accounts Payable to resolve issues affecting timing payment including but not limited to: PO receipt; invoice disputes, Payment term resolution, received not vouchered, shipped not received
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with vendors and contractors to resolve issues relating to delivery, quality, price, or other conditions of purchase
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Strong background in ERP Systems/MRP (materials requirement planning)
  • Basic understanding of Supply Chain concepts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Communicate effectively and tactfully with stakeholders
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Adapt easily to changing conditions, requirements, and environment
  • Self-directed, independent worker
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The employee should have the following:
  • Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred in Supply Chain Management, Business or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years experience in procurement, materials management, or supply chain activity in a manufacturing environment with hands on experience with ERP systems.
  • SAP experience strongly desired

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee should possess the ability to:

  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out
  • Prolong standing or in stationary position
  • Complete repetitive movements
  • Bend and/or twist
  • Lift/move/transport items up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection) as required
