Westlake Careers is Hiring a Compounding Operator Near Marion, VA

SUMMARY

Operates mixing machinery to blend ingredients into basic compounds and final blends, which can be colored for processing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitor gauges, auto weigh scales and track cycles. Take appropriate action as needed.
  • Complete and maintain necessary paperwork.
  • Monitor work area and adjust machines as needed.
  • Maintain housekeeping and clean work area.
  • Prepare packaging materials for recycling.
  • Hook up sacks of materials to be lifted and opened in hoppers.
  • Maintain level of quality consistent with established standards.
  • Comply with established safety rules.
  • Comply with company policy and procedures.
  • Maintain constructive working relationships with co-workers, lead and supervisors/managers.
  • Maintain regular attendance in accordance with company policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to the satisfaction of supervisor and/or lead.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education/Knowledge

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must know weight measurements such as pounds, ounces, and grams.

  • Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Communication

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Experience

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, and reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally is required to walk, climb or balance, and talk or hear.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles and dust. A personal respirator and/or dust mask is provided and must be worn.
