Summary: The Machining CNC Operator is an important part of the Wabtec Team. The Machining CNC Operator operates the Machining department CNC Machines. Operators work hard to meet department production requirements while putting safety and quality first in all task. They use precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to ensure quality is achieved in every part. A successful operator is responsible for working with Machinist to help setup other machines during the operation of assigned machines while learning and developing skills from machinist. Duties and Responsibilities Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers Assist Machinist in setups of machines during cycle of machines when needed Fix issues that might occur during the shift Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws Keep records of approved and defective units or final products Debur finished parts Work from a process Foster a Safety first attitude Follow directions from shift supervisors Willingness to learn and develop skills Always looking for process improvements Minimum Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively with management Ability to effectively organize a work area to successfully complete task Maintain a good attitude to keep a positive and productive environment Willingness to work in a team atmosphere Willingness to work overtime as needed Ability to lift 35 lbs regularly Ability and willingness to wear all PPE required by Machine Shop Ability to read blueprints in order to produce consistent and quality parts Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have the ability to learn and develop into CNC Machinist Requires the ability to work without supervision Must be able to read Micrometer, Blue Prints, and Calipers Authority: All WPT employees have the authority to stop the process they are performing, should the process become unsafe or the outputs nonconforming.
