Job Description

Responsible to assist in overseeing the cabinet shop making, building, repairing and installation for all buildings, OPC areas and corporate assets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with the implementation of processes and procedures provided by the Cabinet Shop Manager regarding the fabrication and installation of cabinets, millwork, and custom elements for corporate buildings, OPC buildings and corporate assets.
  • Has at least two years shop management and development experience.
  • Fabrication shop floor leader to oversee the daily operation of the millwork shop team members.
  • Maintains safety training and development for the team weekly
  • Studies and understands blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to the type of material required, such as plywood, rough lumber and dimensions material and hardware needed for fabrication.
  • Must be able to explain in detail the proper process in which elements need to be fabricated. Follow direction from manager as to process or specific details for quality or production needs.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory levels of paint/fabrication shop and installation van consumables.
  • Fabricates, repairs, installs cabinets or other elements.
  • Manages shop floor in a productive manner to complete jobs in budgeted hours.
  • Maintains the standards of fabrication and finish quality set by the shop managers.
  • Maintains the shop quality assurance program.
  • Prepares cut lists for the team to maintain accuracy and production time.
  • Monitors all fabrication daily to assure jobs are being fabricated correctly and in a time efficient manner as well as the job will be completed in budgeted hours.
  • Has a clear understanding of the operation and safety of all shop tolls and assures all maintenance and training is provided as needed.
  • Manages jobs effectively to deliver and install on schedule.
  • Must produce work that meets shop managers' standards and specifications.
  • Follows industry and company safety procedures and practices.
  • Must have experience in woodworking such as frame to finish, cabinets, cabinet doors, interior doors, themed environments, or furniture. Must have experience in more than one area of expertise to be considered.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends when a project dictates a need.
  • Is passionate about leadership development and growth.
  • Teaches and develops the team members.
  • Must possess unique skills which foster cooperative working relationships, which promotes a positive image of the department to outside personnel.
  • Must comply with all CFI policies and procedures.
  • Must represent CFI in a professional manner through appearance, dress and professional behavior at all times, as dictated in the Team Member’s Handbook.
  • Must work diligently to gain knowledge and experience to execute their role to its full potential.
  • Other duties as assigned by Corporate Facilities leadership.
  • Has the ability and understanding that added scopes and changes occur and mindfully shifts projects or team members around as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises team members in the Cabinet Shop Department. Is responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluation of team members in assigned areas. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Three-to-five-year certificate from college or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Abilities 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly exposed to extreme heat, cold and vibration. The team member is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk or electrical shock and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
