Desktop Engineer 2 

Employee Status: Regular

Schedule: Full-time

Location: Hybrid - defined as three days in office at the Westfield Center, OH office

Responsibilities:

  • Working under minimal supervision, serves as a hands-on technical resource responsible for support and evolution of the end user computing environment.
  • Provides Tier 3 Desktop support for enterprise physical or virtual desktop environments.
  • Provides subject matter expertise, training, technical assistance and support to Desktop peers, project teams, and other IT Departments.
  • Provides support and resolution for problem tickets and identification of root cause.
  • Acts in a project management capacity as a resource in large level complexity end-user computing projects, as required.
  • Provides support of Active Directory and Group Policy Management tools in support of the desktop environment (Organizational Units, group policy objects, etc.).
  • Demonstrates ownership of problems with external 3rd party vendors in the end user computing space such as Microsoft, Vmware, Citrix, Dell, etc. and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Maintains core application currency and provides support for monthly/quarterly patch processes.
  • Deploys and administers desktop related security products, security patches and system updates.
  • Supports 32 bit and 64 bit Microsoft desktop, server and virtual desktop environments as well as VMware ESX.
  • Supports 3rd party commercial off-the-shelf applications.
  • Maintains desktop minimum security baselines.
  • Provides support, maintenance and asset tracking of thick and thin clients.
  • Performs software license compliance and auditing, as required.
  • Creates support and maintains PowerShell scripts to manage the end user computing environment.
  • Maintains current and future industry knowledge as it relates to the end user computing environment.
  • Participates in Disaster Recovery tests and activities.
  • Provides outside of normal working hours “on-call” support on a rotational basis.
  • Travels occasionally in order to participate in special assignments, training, and/or travel between office locations

Qualifications:

  • 4 years of IT work experience.
  • 4 years of experience in both client and server based technologies.
  • 4 years of experience in of Windows desktop and server operating systems in an enterprise environment focusing on best practices, design and architecture.
  • Excellent customer service skills/attitude and the ability to interact with customers in a professional manner.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • 4 years of experience in Desktop Services.
  • Strong problem solving, priority setting, time management and planning skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred in Computer Science, Information Systems) OR equivalent work experience.
  • Proven ability to learn, drive efforts and adapt.
  • Ability to provide on call support for off shift, weekends and holidays.
  • Valid driver’s license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.
  • Physical essential functions: ability to work 40 hours in an office environment (sitting, standing, on a computer, etc.), operate office related technology (computer, phone, etc.), travel as required.
