Overview

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Senior Fixed Income Analyst works closely with the Securitized Products Group portfolio managers to enhance the portfolio management process via the development and maintenance of various databases, financial models and information systems. The Senior Fixed Income Analyst interfaces with the middle office, accounting, settlements, actuarial and marketing functions to facilitate the flow of information between all areas. The analyst is exposed to all facets of the fixed income portfolio management process, including portfolio structuring, security analysis, trading, risk management and reporting. This experience should provide the foundation for advancement into research or portfolio management. Works with minimal supervision and is responsible to make an established range of decisions, escalating to Manager when necessary and updating Manager on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

· Works with middle office analysts to produces daily, monthly and quarterly reporting for internal risk management as well as customized and standardized reporting for all affiliated and external clients.

· Responsible for the oversight and enhancement of existing databases, financial models and reporting systems – includes data integrity and process optimization.

· Performs ad hoc analysis of macro-economic variables, analysis of various fixed income subsectors, analysis of individual securities or issuer platforms, top-down portfolio exposure analysis and any other ad hoc analytical requests from both internal and external constituents.

· Assists with the implementation, maintenance and use of front-end portfolio management systems (PORT) and assimilates data from various third-party systems, including PAM, PACE, Intex, Trepp and Bloomberg.

· Interfaces with accounting, IT, actuarial, and marketing functions to facilitate flow of information between all areas.

· Analyze securities in specific subsectors (TBD) of the securitized market with the ability to recommend securities for inclusion in total return fixed income mandates and ALM mandates with goal of generating alpha or matching liabilities, respectively.

  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with external research, sales, syndication and trading teams.

· Performs other duties as assigned by management.

 

Qualifications

Selection Criteria:

  • Typically requires 3 years of proven successful experience in structured products markets or demonstrated strong interest in the fixed income asset management business.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear, focused and concise manner.
  • Proven ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills including data anlaysis in Excel (VBA preferred) and data visualization tools.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, implement and use new tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to work under multiple deadlines and minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively influencing a group to a recommended course of action.
  • Proven strong quantitative and mathematical skills.
  • Demonstrated desire and initiative to strive for continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Proven strong team orientation. Must provide examples from working experience of going above and beyond to promote the interets of the team.

Work Setting:

  • Works in an office setting and frequently remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
  • Visual acuity to read a variety of correspondence, reports and forms, and to prepare and analyze data.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or quantitative-related field.

Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:

  • Microsoft Office applications with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Visual Basic programming and database software a plus.

Certifications & Licenses (i.e., Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):

  • CFA designation or willingness to work toward obtaining the CFA or MBA is preferred
