Western Reserve Group is Hiring a Software Developer II Near Wooster, OH

A Software Developer II will work closely with a team of developers, testers and business analysts to build or maintain business functionality. This position may work closely with our business customers to ensure the functionality developed meets the needs of the end user community. This position will also be responsible for thorough unit testing, supporting and maintaining the functionality as well.
Salary Grade (13) 74,609 - 95,127 - 115,645

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Execute full lifecycle software development within IT standards, policies and best practices and contribute to the evolution of these standards.
  • Design and develop software solutions with medium complexity, by studying business processes and technical architecture, conferring with users, and studying systems flow, performance/usage, and work processes to provide optimized solutions.
  • Creates and maintains development artifacts that may include: solution and design documentation, unit testing plan and results.
  • Participate in defect or incident resolution and/or root cause analysis in the incident and problem management processes.
  • Identifies and creates automation capabilities to increase IT efficiencies.
  • Monitor and maintain production applications to ensure high-availability and minimize downtime to our customers.
  • Attend and participate in development and requirements meetings.
  • Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code. Provide feedback that aligns to IT standards.
  • Coach and mentor other developers, including interns.
  • Collaborate with technical and business resources.
  • Provide updates on status and raise issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide on occasion off hours support.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two or more years of experience programming with the languages and tools for either the web platform, Guidewire, and/or the Mainframe (i.e. Java, C#, HTML, CSS, COBOL, CICS, VSAM, .Net and JavaScript, etc.)
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or commensurate experience.
  • Experience programming in a SQL Server environment.
  • Experience within the Property & Casualty industry.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies, processes, and project governance; experience with the Agile development methodology preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. The individual must be able to effectively and clearly communicate with agency, departmental, and company personnel via telephone, e-mail, and one on one dialogue in a highly professional manner.
