Western National is seeking a Casualty Claims Representative to join our team in our Anchorage AK office!

Our Casualty Claims Representative you will Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve multi-line insurance claims involving bodily injury as assigned. This highly visible and important role will allow the right candidate to work with our customers in the claims handling process.
The ideal candidate will have 2 years of casualty claims experience with strong communication, time management, and analytical skills.
This position can be a hybrid work schedule (combination of in-office and remote) once training is completed.
Responsibilities:
  • Handle high volume, low to moderate complexity liability and bodily injury claims within settlement authority.
  • Ensure customer service excellence.
  • Investigate and review policy forms, facts and documents related to claims to make appropriate decisions on claims resolution.
  • Establish and review proper reserves for each claim based upon thorough investigation, evaluation, and experience, maintaining appropriate reports to ensure status of claims are clearly documented at all times.
  • Provide direction to outside vendors and partners.
  • Decision Making/Authority Level.
  • Gather input and make recommendations to solve problems of moderate complexity. •Problem-Solving/ Critical Thinking.
  • Deal with moderately complex problems that must be broken down into manageable pieces.
  • Identify relationships between problem components and prioritize them.
  • Utilize knowledge, experience, and available resources to resolve claims.
  • May participate in development of improvements and help implement change.
  • Regular contact with customers (insureds, claimants, agents) as well as regular contact with employees across the organization.
  • Regular contact with outside vendors.
  • Occasional travel on short notice for field work as required (i.e., scene investigations, meeting witnesses, etc.)
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • 3 years of Claims handling experience.
  • Understanding of industry practices, standards, and claims concepts.
  • Able to multitask and solve problems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Negotiation with individuals and attorneys.
  • Analytical with ability to exercise sound business judgment.
  • Time management
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience
  • Working toward AIC, AINS or CPCU certification is preferred
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and other systems daily.
  • Experience working with Guidewire Claim Center is a plus.

Compensation overview

The full hiring range for this role is $58,100-$87,000. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates looking for compensation outside of the posted range are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their individual qualifications and/or may be considered for other positions.
