Reports To: Principal

Start Date: 2019-2020 School Year

JOB DESCRIPTION

Western is looking for an energetic and motivated STEM Teacher who is devoted to educating students with 21st-century skills. The Ideal candidate for this multi-subject role is a creative educator who excels in coaching and teaching students, and one who is committed to discipling students in their Christian faith walk.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver instruction to high school level students
  • Lead students to an understanding of the required Mathematical concepts and applications in a given course
  • Collaborate with other STEM teachers in maintaining a strong learning environment
  • Design lessons and assessments according to curriculum objectives, ensuring each student meets learning objectives
  • Attend to necessary teaching protocols, i.e. attendance, online grade books, student supervision, participation in school community events

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters in Mathematics and/or Science and/or STEM preferred or related field or National Board Certification.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A proven track record in the use of a rich array of instructional methods, the analysis and use of data and technology to improve instruction, and the ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively.
  • Evidence of productive experience with problem-based learning.
  • Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position.
  • Proven ability to apply science and/or math content knowledge, formative assessment, and technology integration at a high level.
  • Deep understanding of student learning theory, brain-based learning, and differentiated instruction.
  • Understanding of NET-S, NGSS, and CCSS.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with teachers regarding student learning.
  • A desire to continue learning “what works” in classroom instruction.
  • Ability and experience teaching AP level math or science
  • A well-grounded Christ-follower with a call to the ministry of teaching
