WICAP Vision Statement: “Building Relationships for Successful Futures”
TITLE: Youth Advocate PROGRAM: CSBG
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs all job responsibilities in a safe manner. Must adhere to the Standards of Conduct which includes that no child is left alone or unsupervised and follow reporting systems. The Youth Advocate role will require the individual to work closely with youth and teen parents in the community. This position will connect participants with the necessary resources to complete their HS Diploma or GED. The selected individual will need to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, a high level of professional conduct, and be a team player.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have education and experience relating to population being served; specifically, at risk youth and teenage parents.
Two years of experience in a mentoring role.
Ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships with participants and community partners.
Proactively seek out opportunities to develop youth grants and funding sources.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in maintaining detailed records in a database.
Able and willing to complete training as identified by Program Director.
Willingness to step in and assist with community childcare as needed.
OCCUPATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
No prior convictions of child abuse/neglect. Criminal History background clearance
Will need to complete and clear a Physical and TB screen upon conditional offer to hire
Successful completion of a driving record check that meets WICAP’s insurance requirements
Will need to complete Drug and Alcohol screening upon conditional offer to hire
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure safety is a priority in performing all job responsibilities and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures
Complete and/or collect any necessary screening tools
Implement services with youth and families in their preferred environment
Create individualized plans with youth
Paperwork and reports are completed accurately
Meet deadlines
Ensure compliance with confidentiality policy and HIPAA/FERPA
Assure that a positive image of WICAP is portrayed at all times
Position Information:
Status is Non-Exempt
Entry rate is $16.88 per hour
Full-Time
52 weeks per year
