Content Area or Department Brief Description
The Early Childhood Integrated Systems (ECIS) content area addresses systems and policies for children age birth to eight and their families. Projects in this area build the capacity of state-level or large-scale mixed-delivery early childhood systems through cross-sector, integrated service delivery, policy guidance, system building efforts and initiatives to support the whole child, whole family and whole community.
The Opportunity
The Quality Assurance Specialist will review Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese translations of training materials and resources for the early childhood workforce and ensure the preferred translations are used consistently. This individual will also contribute to the creation of a translation glossary, review designed multi-media modules and print resources, as well as collaborate with project staff, and assist with other project duties in Chinese.
Core Focus Areas

• Review Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese translations of training materials and resources for the early childhood workforce to ensure terms in Chinese are appropriate and understandable for the intended audience.
• Ensure that preferred translations are used consistently across materials and resources.
• Contribute to the creation of a translation glossary for use in similar future translations.
• Review designed multi-media modules and print resources in Chinese for quality assurance.
• Collaborate with project staff to discuss and resolve translation of specialized terms.
• Assist with other project duties in Chinese, such as translating interview protocols or taking notes for focus groups.

What We're Looking For

• Extensive knowledge of Chinese vocabulary related to early childhood education.
• Demonstrated expertise in writing, editing, and proofreading in Chinese.
• Demonstrated expertise in translating English to Chinese.
• Careful attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to quickly learn to use basic features of computer applications such as Box, Smartsheet, and Zoom.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with timelines to adjust to shifts in priorities and timelines.
• Respect for diverse perspectives; working positively and effectively as a member of a team.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: The salary for this role is $30 per hour.
