Westcliff University’s online Writing Center is looking to hire a specialist with experience in editing dissertations and research articles, copyediting, consulting, tutorial curation, and running workshops or bootcamp programs. As we continue to expand our offerings, we are looking for individuals who are meticulous, detail-oriented, and capable of working with a variety of writing styles and levels. The ideal candidate will have experience working with second language learners at the university/graduate level as either a tutor or educator and strong interpersonal skills. 

This role will be primarily remote but will require the candidate to be on-campus to facilitate workshops three times a year..

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide consultation services to support students involved in the dissertation process and those submitting assignments at the doctoral and master’s level
• Create content for dissertation support resources (handouts, explanations, tutorials)
• Facilitate workshops and writing bootcamps and aid in the curation of material for these events
• Provide copy editing services prior to publication for the University’s research journal 
• Explain complex and abstract concepts in easy to understand, simplistic language
• Attend Writing Center team meetings and professional development activities

Requirements

 Basic Qualifications

• Doctorate degree from an accredited four-year college or university 
• Minimum of three years professional experience as proofreader or experience working in a writing center that serves graduate students
• Willing to work weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Quantitative methodology experience/expertise
• Experience as a classroom educator/instructor 
• Experience with ESL/EFL learners
• Experience developing curriculum/workshops
