Westchester Pediatric Physical Therapy is Hiring a Pediatric Physical Therapy Assistant Near Scarsdale, NY

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapy Assistant to join our growing team. As a Pediatric Physical Therapy Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a licensed doctor of physical therapy to provide therapeutic services to children and adolescents with physical disabilities, injuries, or developmental delays. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in implementing engaging treatment plans designed to improve mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and overall physical function in pediatric patients. You will work closely with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care in a compassionate and supportive manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Treatment Sessions: Collaborate with licensed physical therapists to carry out therapeutic exercises, activities, and interventions as prescribed in the treatment plan.
  • Provide Hands-On Support: Assist pediatric patients with exercises, stretches, and mobility activities to improve strength, flexibility, and motor skills.
  • Monitor Progress: Observe and document patients' progress during treatment sessions, including improvements, challenges, and any changes in condition. Report findings to the supervising physical therapist.
  • Educate Patients and Families: Educate patients and their families on therapeutic techniques, exercises, and home exercise programs to support ongoing progress and rehabilitation.
  • Maintain Equipment and Supplies: Ensure that therapy equipment and supplies are organized, clean, and readily available for use. Assist with equipment setup and maintenance as needed.
  • Provide Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and encouragement to pediatric patients and their families throughout the therapy process, fostering a positive and supportive therapeutic environment.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Communicate effectively with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and nurses, to coordinate patient care and achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Adhere to Regulations: Adhere to all relevant legal, ethical, and regulatory standards governing pediatric physical therapy practice, including patient confidentiality and safety protocols.
  • Continuing Education: Stay informed about current trends, techniques, and developments in pediatric physical therapy through ongoing education, training, and professional development activities.
  • Maintain workman's compensation insurance

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assistant program or equivalent certification.
  • NY State licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Prior experience working with pediatric populations preferred.
  • Experience working with Torticollis, sensory processing disorders, and autism
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with children, adolescents, and their families.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a loving team.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and record-keeping purposes.
  • Desire to LEARN
