Westchester Medical Center is Hiring a Transporter Near Valhalla, NY

Job Summary: The transporter is responsible for transporting case carts and equipment throughout the hospital. Provide Stat and routine errand services to Operating Room, Sterile Processing, Materials Management and Central Supply.

Responsibilities:

  • Transports case carts, supplies, disposable materials, custom packs and instrument trays between the Operating Room, SPD and throughout the hospital.
  • Observe proper safety techniques, practices and processes and report any variances to the proper personnel immediately.
  • Make routine rounds of Operating Room and Sterile Processing for return case carts and instrument trays.
  • Perform routing rounds throughout the hospital, picking up unused sterile instrument trays, scanning and returning them to the Sterile Processing Sterile Storage area.
  • Verify daily supply requirements and delivery times for each clinic using electronic instrument tracking system.
  • Performs duties with awareness of patient safety, comfort and privacy at all times.
  • Respond to exception request from clinical supply staff.
  • Assist with stocking inventory in clinics; receive instrument orders, check in items, stock shelves and retrieve supplies.
  • Must adhere to the policies and procedures of the Sterile Processing department and Operating Room.
  • Maintain records of distribution and receipt.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
  • Ability to maneuver and operate transport equipment.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience: A minimum of 1-year experience working with medical instruments in a healthcare facility, preferred. At least 6 months of related experience, required. Experience using an electronic instrument tracking system.

Education:High school diploma or equivalent, required.

Licenses / Certifications: N/A

Other: Ability to read and write English. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
