Child Welfare Services at WIHD seeks a part-time English/Spanish speaking clinician (21 hrs/week) to join Project IMPACT, an innovative, research-based program that provides in-home training and support to adults with an intellectual disability or history of significant learning disabilities whose children are at risk of foster care placement.
Clinician must be available to schedule appointments during weekday daytime hours (9-5) and available to travel to homes in Westchester County. Services are based on a curriculum that emphasizes in-vivo learning and modeling of over 21 parenting skills, including home safety, problem solving, and parent advocacy. Clinicians are assigned a small number of families so that there is opportunity to provide an intensive level of services.
The Westchester Institute for Human Development (WIHD) is a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, serving over 10,000 children and adults with disabilities and special health care needs and their families living in Westchester County and the lower Hudson Valley regions. WIHD has had a forty plus year partnership with individuals with disabilities, their families, and the community supporting health and wellness, independence, productivity, and inclusion through medical and clinical services, educational programs, and research. In fulfilling this mission, WIHD emphasizes programs and services that can best reach unserved and underserved populations. For almost 30 years, WIHD has partnered with the Westchester County Department of Social Services to deliver a continuum of services to children and families involved with the child welfare system.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Interested applicants should have a Master’s in Social Work, a minimum of two years’ experience in providing parenting/family training services, be bilingual in English and Spanish, and should be familiar with the child welfare and disability systems. License in Social Work preferred. Multicultural candidates encouraged to apply. Car & driver’s license required.
