Westchester County Solid Waste Commission - Solid Waste Inspector
The Westchester County Solid Waste Commission, which is a licensing and regulatory agency, has an immediate opening for a Solid Waste Inspector to perform inspections, investigations, research and related functions related to the Westchester County Solid Waste and Recyclables Collection Licensing Law.
prepare investigative reports of observed violations and may provide witness testimony during administrative hearings; and other related work as needed.
Examples of Work Continued :
Conducts on-site inspections and investigations of solid waste transfer stations and other locations within the county to ensure appropriate licenses have been obtained, to identify violations, and ensure compliance with law.
Works with various County departments to track reported user violations and takes appropriate action in accordance with established guidelines.
Works with outside agencies as assigned, such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service, the NYS Department of Environmental Protection, NYS Organized Task Force, the NYS Attorney General’s Office, the New York City Business Integrity Commission and local law enforcement agencies in the course of conducting investigations.
Required Qualifications : The successful candidate must possess a high school or equivalency diploma and either : (a) 4 years of experience where the primary function of the position was in inspection for regulatory compliance, criminal loss prevention investigations, or Law enforcement field;
or (b) 4 years of work experience which included conducting investigations.
Possess and maintain a valid NY State Driver’s license.
SUBSTITUTION : Satisfactory completion of 30 college credits may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to 3 years of the above stated experience.
