to join our High School World Language Department

beginning in the 2024-2025 school year

Job Title:  Spanish Teacher
Reports to: Principal and World Language Director 

Department: World Language

Work Year: 184 days, school year

FLSA Status: Exempt, Unit A 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Master’s degree preferred from an accredited college/university 
  • Professional Certification:
  • MA DESE license as a World Language Teacher;
  • SEI Endorsement preferred
  • Specialized Knowledge: adolescent development, World Language curriculum frameworks, growth mindset, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti-bias instruction, co-teaching, social-emotional learning, technology integration
  • Hiring Requirement: Successful completion of CORI, SORI, and fingerprinting. 


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience teaching English Language learners in a diverse public school setting 
  • Experience teaching students with special needs, including students with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges
  • Strong background in language instruction
  • Highly desirable to have experience with:
    • ACTFL Proficiency Standards
    • Proficiency-focused curriculum and instruction
    • Collaborative department planning

  • Plans and implements differentiated lessons and ongoing formative assessments
  • Applies knowledge of current research and theory to instructional design with a demonstrated commitment to remain current in content knowledge 
  • Partners and collaborates with department colleagues and specialists
  • Establishes effective relationships with students, colleagues, and parents
  • Integrates technology in order to enhance student learning experiences
  • Demonstrate a belief in a growth mindset for students

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 

  • Creates a welcoming and supportive learning environment that embraces the diversity among individuals and ensures equitable opportunities for student learning 
  • Monitors students' understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusts instruction, materials or assessments when appropriate
  • Evaluates and refines instructional practice and assessment strategies to increase student learning, engagement, and confidence in learning;
  • Participates in professional development activities, internal and external, and meets requirements for licensure recertification;
  • Participates in all faculty and committee meetings as required, and district-wide committees as needed
  • Any other relative duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The World Language teacher does not have supervisory responsibilities, except to direct any paraeducators who may be working with a student in the classroom. 

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
