Summary

Westbay Children’s Center, a program of Westbay Community Action, Inc., has an immediate opening for a Teacher Assistant/Aide to assist the classroom teacher in all aspects of the classroom functions. Our Teacher Assistants (Aides) are in classrooms ranging from infant to preschool. Some duties include planning and implementing activities, teaching, supervising children, and maintaining the classroom environment. In the teacher’s absence, the Teacher Assistant (Aide) will assume full responsibility for the classroom function.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Teacher’s Assistant certification preferred
• CPR/First Aide certification, or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire
• Complete 24 hours of continuing education annually
• Meet DCYF and BCI criminal background check requirements
• Have required immunizations

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and implementation of classroom activities
• Supervise children at all times and ensure their safety and well-being
• Set up materials for classroom activities
• Perform household maintenance duties to ensure a clean, organized classroom facility
• Assume overall responsibility for children and daily activities in the absence of the teacher
• Assist in engaging parents in meaningful 2-way communication
• Share responsibility for the safety and well-being of all children in accordance with DCYF Regulations
