Requirements:

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in natural resources, wildlife management, wildlife biology or equivalent
• Prior experience with VHF telemetry is required
• Experience with and ability to operate a 4x4 vehicle
• Experience safely driving an ATV in rugged terrain is preferred
• Skilled use of topographic maps, GPS units and other field equipment is required
• Self- starter who can work independently, sometimes in remote locations and in extreme weather conditions
• Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with site management and WEST supervisors
• High level of initiative and ability to think critically to solve challenging problems.
• Ability to appear for work on time, follow instructions from managers; interact effectively with coworkers and clients; maintain a positive attitude; accept guidance and constructive criticism
• Candidates may encounter snakes, insects, and other potentially hazardous wildlife.

Physical Requirements:

• Applicants must be in good physical condition, as work will be conducted in locations where temperatures and conditions can be extreme.
• Ability to walk long distances (10 miles)

After an offer of employment is made, the candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and a DMV records check that meets WEST’s minimum criteria to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company. A valid driver’s license will be required. Candidates must adhere to all health and safety requirements.
