Position: Training Coordinator – Step Up for Women Construction Program

Overview: West Virginia Women Work, a statewide nonprofit organization, is seeking a proactive and outcomes-oriented Training Coordinator to take charge of the training and student components within our Step Up for Women Construction program based in Charleston, WV. Key Responsibilities:

Participant Recruitment and Engagement:

  • Lead participant interviews and manage enrollment processes.
  • Organize open house recruitment events to attract prospective candidates.

Soft Skills Instruction:

  • Deliver vital soft skill topics through both virtual and in-person sessions.
  • Cover communication, resume writing, interviewing, and job-hunting tactics.

Training Coordination and Support:

  • Coordinate hands-on training components and arrange expert speakers.
  • Guide students through the program, ensuring compliance with curriculum and schedule.

Student Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the main point of contact, addressing inquiries and monitoring progress.
  • Maintain accurate records, report to partner agencies, and provide referrals to support services.

Program Support and Administration:

  • Assist Program Coordinator in event logistics and outreach efforts.
  • Manage data entry, reporting, and maintain a comprehensive filing system.

Student Support, Mentorship, and Relationship Building:

  • Serve as a mentor, providing invaluable guidance and support to program participants.
  • Cultivate a positive learning environment that encourages personal and professional growth.
  • Act as a bridge between program participants and external support agencies, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with external entities to ensure comprehensive support for program participants.
  • Engage with employers, educational institutions, community organizations, industry professionals, and other stakeholders.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to effectively communicate empathetically, clearly, and assertively with participants, staff, and partners
  • Ability to adapt to evolving program needs, technological advancements, and changing circumstances effectively
  • Respect the diverse backgrounds and experiences of participants and stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing program needs
  • Passion for promoting and supporting self-sufficiency and economic empowerment among women

Qualifications:

  • Construction/trades experience a plus but not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a culturally sensitive and professional manner.
  • Enthusiasm for promoting self-sufficiency and economic empowerment among women.
  • BA/BS degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in workforce development, nonprofit, or program management is a plus.
  • Familiarity with client databases or CRMs, especially Salesforce, is highly preferred.
