West Virginia Department of Transportation (WV) is Hiring a Transportation District Administrator 1 - Marshall County Near Charleston, WV

JOB
The Transportation District Administrator 1 will report to the District 6 Headquarters, as part of the District Performance Management Section. This position provides oversight and tracking of various district activities and expenditures by compiling, reviewing, and tracking necessary data. Performs full-performance level work administering highway maintenance programs. This position will analyze and make appropriate supervisory decisions with limited supervision. Work is evaluated and reviewed according to organizational goals, regulations, feasibility, and effectiveness in reaching desired outcomes. More complicated assignments and work may be reviewed and approved by senior level management. Provides oversight and tracking of various district activities and expenditures by compiling, reviewing, and tracking necessary data. Advanced supervisory, planning, and budgetary skills are essential to this position. All work is accomplished in accordance with established policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards developed by the Department of Transportation. Performs other related duties as required.Pay Grade: 16
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
  • Plans, directs, and implements a specialized district-wide highway maintenance program within operating annual budget, including the security of materials and equipment.• Ensures maximum utilization of equipment, personnel, and materials.• Schedules or approves weekly maintenance activities, work crew assignments, equipment, and materials.• Ensures compliance with Department of Transportation established schedules, procedures and policies, as well as any applicable Federal regulations.• Responds to and resolves citizen or employee complaints.• May serve as a member of a District Equipment Review Board and attend safety meetings and management conferences.• Plans Snow Removal Ice Control (SRIC) program for a district.• Performs field inspections of bridges, roads, and crews.• May estimate requirements of paving projects in assigned area.• Supervises and conducts performance reviews of subordinate staff.• May appear as a witness for the Department of Transportation in legal actions.• May prepare projected budget and expenditure schedule.• Travel may be required; therefore, a valid driver’s license will be required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
REQUIRED TRAINING/EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.Substitution: Experience, as described below, may be substituted for the required training/education through an established formula. REQUIRED EXPERIENCEFive (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in business administration, public administration, transportation, construction, manufacturing, mining, the armed services, or as a project coordinator.Substitution. Successful completion of graduate coursework from a regionally accredited college or university may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience through an established formula.
