CERTIFICATION / High School Graduate / GED

QUALIFICTIONS : Passing Score on Cook Service Personnel Test and have / obtain Food Handler's Card

JOB DESCRIPTION :

• Assist with meeting the goals of USDA Child Nutrition Programs to provide healthy, nutritious meals and snacks to students and others, while following all food safety regulations
• Responsible for producing nutritious, appealing meals served in a pleasant atmosphere
• Maintain production records and / or safety records as needed
• Follow all standard operating procedures for HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) to prevent cross contamination of food and / or supplies
• Read and follow all recipes and instructions in production records
• Use simple math to add, subtract, multiply and divide quickly to determine the quantity of food to prepare, serve and / or order
• Operate food service equipment in safe and efficient manner to prevent bodily injury to self and others, prevent cross contamination of food or supplies, prevent damage to equipment
• Test food by tasting and smelling to make sure it has been prepared properly
• Use food and supplies wisely with very little waste
• Use time wisely to make sure food production and serving times are met according to the daily
• Help set up serving line for meal service, count and gather amount of food and supplies for mealservice as needed
• Know the proper portion sizes to be served to meet guidelines for a reimbursable meal, and record meals correctly
• Handle any cash from food sales in a way to prevent errors and / or theft
• Work well with staff and public, and use proper language when talking with students, school staff and visitors
• Help with cleaning of kitchen and cafeteria dining room tables and any other areas of the dining room as determined by the school principal
• Follow all standard operating procedures for personal hygiene and dress code to assure safety of food supply
• Promptly report problems with food, equipment, staff or other related conditions to the Cafeteria Manager
• Perform other related food service duties when asked by the Cafeteria Manager
• Attend all scheduled staff development programs

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

• Adequate body strength for lifting, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 pounds
• Manual dexterity to make coordinated, quick and repeated hand movements in food preparation
• Adequate flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms and or legs
• Able to work in very hot and or very cold conditions for periods of time
• Able to stand in one place for long periods of time and do frequent walking
• Able to work with hazardous equipment and cleaning chemicals

ADDITIONAL MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

Applicants who have been dismissed or who have had their contracts non-renewed for

cause by another school district are not eligible for consideration; applicants who have recent unsatisfactory evaluations are not to be considered eligible for consideration;

applicants who demonstrate unsatisfactory interview performance are not eligible for consideration; and, applicants who receive unfavorable reference recommendations will not be eligible for consideration.
