    JOB DESCRIPTION
    Position: Board Certified Behavior Analyst
    Evaluated by: Director of Special Programs
    Job Description: The Special Programs Specialist is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating special education services for students with behavior disorders and other exceptionalities.
    Qualifications: Holds a West Virginia Professional Teaching Certificate with a Master’s Degree or above in Special Education; five (5) years successful teaching experience; trained in Applied Behavior Analysis and holds certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analysist
    Length of Employment: 200 Days
    Responsibilities: The Special Programs Specialist shall have the following responsibilities and duties:
    1. To serve as program specialist for special education behavior disorder programs including program planning, training, implementation and evaluation.
    2. To develop, implement and maintain student data collection and progress monitoring system for students with behavior disorders and other exceptionalities.
    3. To plan and implement staff development and/or parent education relating to special education behavior disorder programs.
    4. To support all staff with technical assistance for special education behavior disorder programs.
    5. To work closely with staff to coordinate, manage, assess needs, and determine student assignment in regards to special education behavior disorder programs.
    6. To coordinate, implement, supervise, and evaluate the development of special education behavior disorder programs.
    7. To receive student referrals for special education and implement the assessment and evaluation process within state timelines and maintain tracking log for eligibility timelines.
    8. To select and administer formal and informal assessments to determine student eligibility for special education services according WV Policy 2419, Regulations for the Education of Students with Exceptionalities.
    9. To coordinate and facilitate participation in Eligibility Team Meetings to assist with the interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students according to district procedures.
    10. To assign case managers to students with IEPs and maintain student special education data in WVEIS/WOW.
    11. To attend IEP meetings and other student-centered meetings as necessary to resolve issues and ensure the appropriate development and implementation of programs and services.
    12. To collect and review Standards Based Individualized Education Plans for the purpose of content and required data.
    13. To provide on-going support and resources to special educators for IEP development, disability information, research-based instructional strategies, and behavior management.

    14. To communicate frequently and clearly with parents, guardians and care givers. Resolve problems and respond to parental requests for information or assistance in a timely fashion.
    15. To work cooperatively with building principals and district administrators to resolve issues and ensure the effective and efficient provision of special education programs and services.
    16. To comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the areas of assessment, placement, and delivery of special education services.
    17. To participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment. Maintain positive relationships with the building administration, parents, other staff and students in the buildings.
    18. To maintain and participate in professional development focusing on behavioral interventions and strategies.
    19. To maintain professional work habits.
    20. To perform other such duties in fulfillment of the general responsibility as may be desirable and necessary or assigned by the Office of Special Programs Director or Superintendent.
