    1 – Cafeteria Manager – Wheeling Park High School

    TITLE: Cafeteria Manager
    Wheeling Park High School
    REPORTS TO: Administrator for Child Nutrition
    JOB GOAL: To coordinate the preparation of attractive and nutritional meals under the most sanitary conditions, in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and friendliness for the students of Ohio County Schools.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must have training in production control (from State of West Virginia Department of Child Nutrition preferred).
    • Must have a minimum of four years experience as a Cook II.
    • Must have experience maintaining proper inventory requirement for the successful operation of a large quantity of food service operation or willing to learn a manual and possibly a computerized system.
    • Possess leadership qualities necessary to direct others preparing, serving and delivering school meals or willing to upgrade leadership skills.
    • Possess the ability to successfully relate to students, staff members and fellow workers.
    • Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
    • Meet health requirements established by Ohio County Schools, the West Virginia/Ohio County Department of Health, the West Virginia Department of Agriculture and the United States Department of Agriculture.
    • Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a head cook.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
    • Supervise and instruct kitchen personnel in the safe, proper and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
    • Report immediately to the principal any problem or accident involving the Child Nutrition staff.
    • Devise a weekly assignment roster and assign duties daily to other cooks.
    • Consult with servers at the satellite schools about menus, food preparation, food storage, food handling, food safety, portion control, quantities of food and serving practices to assure all meals are reimbursable.
    • Coordinate the preparation of food, supplies and paper products for the daily menu.
    • Ensure that all United States Department of Agriculture and West Virginia Department of Education meal component requirements for breakfast and lunch are adhered to at Wheeling Park High School and for each of the satellite schools.
    • Provide input to the principal into the evaluations of all Cook II/Servers working in the Wheeling Park High School kitchen.
    • Prepare and submit orders for food, paper products, dairy products, baking items and supplies to the Child Nutrition office or appropriate venders every Friday.
    • Assist with the implementation of the Point of Service electronic billing system at Wheeling Park High School.
    • Prepare food according to a planned menu and tested, uniform recipes, and determine if the finished product is of best quality, both in flavor and appearance before it is served.
    • Report to the Administrator for Child Nutrition any faulty or inferior quality food which is received.
    • Participate in staff development training as directed.
    • Maintain positive work habits.
    • Perform duties efficiently and productively.
    • Maintain and/ore upgrade skills.
    • Assist with the development of staff development for all Child Nutrition personnel.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or the Administrator for Child Nutrition.
