West Tree Services is Hiring a Trimmer Near Jonesboro, AR

Overview:
Tree Climbers will travel to various sites and use tree climbing equipment and techniques to clear trees for right of way clearing projects, specifically in hard to reach locations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Climb trees, using climbing hooks and belts, or climb ladders to gain access to work areas.
  • Must be proficient in rope and harness climbing, use of climbing gaffs (spurs), modern climbing and rigging tools/techniques.
  • Perform pruning in accordance with industry standard, American National Standard A300 (ANSI)
  • Cut away dead and excess branches from trees, or clear branches around power lines, using climbing equipment or buckets of extended truck booms, or chainsaws, hooks, handsaws, shears, and clippers.
  • Hoist tools and equipment to tree trimmers, and lower branches with ropes or block and tackle.
  • I.S.A Certifications; Certified Arborist or Certified tree worker are a plus
  • Line Clearance Certified is a plus
  • Clean, sharpen, and lubricate tools and equipment.
  • Inspect trees to determine if they have diseases or pest problems.
  • Operate shredding and chipping equipment, and feed limbs and brush into the machines.
  • Supervise others engaged in tree trimming work and train lower-level employees.
  • Trim, top, and reshape trees to achieve attractive shapes or to remove low-hanging branches.
  • Clear sites, streets, and grounds of woody and herbaceous materials, such as tree stumps and fallen trees and limbs.
  • Collect debris and refuse from tree trimming and removal operations into piles, using shovels, rakes or other tools.
  • Load debris and refuse onto trucks and haul it away for disposal.
  • Remove broken limbs from wires, using hooked extension poles.
  • Operate boom trucks, loaders, stump chippers, brush chippers, tractors, power saws, trucks, sprayers, and other equipment and tools.
  • Provide information to the public regarding trees, such as advice on tree care.
  • Trim jagged stumps, using saws or pruning shears.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience using specific tree climbing equipment (hooks, belts, harnesses)
  • Ability to work long hours in a high stress environment, including work outside of normal business hours.
  • Follow Basic Machine Maintenance.
  • Oversee and maintain the equipment assigned.

  • High School Degree or equivalent
Work Environment:
This job may operate in remote locations, void of sanitary facilities, in extreme weather conditions both hot and cold and precipitation, during light of day, during the night and possibly in flooded areas.
Physical Demands:
Required to:
  • Sit for up to 4 hours
  • Squat for up to 30 minutes, or
  • Stand for up to 8 hours
  • Height for climbing – 120’ (Required to climb a ladder, stairs, or tree for up to 120’.)
  • Maximum single step height – 2’ (Required to make a maximum single step height of up to 2’ with one leg.)
  • Maximum weight carried while climbing – 30lbs (Required to carry up to 30 lbs while climbing ladder, stairs, or tree.)
  • Crawl height – 2’ (Required to be able to crawl under a 2’ crawl space.)
  • Small space/hole – 2.5’ wide (Required to be able to fit through a 2.5’ wide crawl space.)
  • Max weight single hand – 30lbs (Required to be able to lift up to 30 lbs with a single hand.)
  • Max weight both hands – 60lbs (Required to be able to lift up to 60 lbs with both hands.)
  • Max floor to waist lift – 75lbs (Required to be able to lift up to 75 lbs from the floor to the waist.)
  • Above shoulder lift – 40lbs (Required to be able to lift up to 40 lbs from the floor to above the shoulders
