West Tree Services is Hiring a Foreperson Near Searcy, AR

Founded in 1945, by A. D. West and M. E. Erickson, West Tree Service, a Gunnison Company, has consistently provided utilities with reliable and professional Right of Way (ROW) maintenance services. West Tree Service is a contractor that provides vegetation management services to utilities. The utilities include Investor-Owned Utilities (IOU) (like Entergy and OG&E), Cooperatives, Municipalities, and gas pipeline companies. These services include tree trimming and removal, herbicide application, and mowing to provide utilities with a clear and manageable Right of Way. A clear Right of Way allows utilities to provide reliable and uninterrupted services to their customers. The majority of our management team and supervisors are certified by ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) which promotes the professional practice of arboriculture.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Enforce all safety rules and take active part in company safety program
  • Develop and maintain close relationship with Safety Department
  • Work closely with safety personnel to develop new safety initiatives
  • Proactively address truck audits to eliminate ACRT audit and shutdowns
  • Ensure all work is performed in a safe manner and that all JSA report are completed
  • Climb trees to cut limbs
  • Cut limbs from buckets
  • Rig limbs after climbing a tree
  • Safely use a chainsaw and a hydraulic saw in a tree and in a bucket
  • Perform proper cuts on trees
  • Tie standard knots used in line clearing
  • Safely work around energized powered lines
  • Work with bucket trucks and chippers
  • Drive a medium duty truck
  • Complete job-related paperwork

Position Requirements:

  • One year as a crew leader or foreman
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Experience and excellence as a trimmer while employed for the company
  • Expertise in knots used in line clearing
  • Expertise with chain saws and hydraulic saws
  • Expertise on working around energized powered lines
  • Ability to perform proper cuts
  • Knowledge as to the function of bucket trucks and chippers
  • Ability to communicate with customers and employees
  • Must be able to leave town for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to leave town for extended periods of time on short notice (generally weather driven)
  • Must be able to work 10 hour days and a minimum of 40 hours per week. Storm related jobs may require up to 16 hours per day.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to hand lift 70 pounds to shoulder height
  • Flexibility, including the ability to squat and bend
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to pull body weight up 20 feet and climb a tree
  • Ability to withstand and perform work at heights
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and to withstand extreme temperatures
  • May not exceed weight for hydraulic bucket
Rate of Pay:
Starting at: Hourly Pay Rate of $20.00.
Paid Weekly
Rate of pay is dependent upon experience.
