The Opportunity:
West Music is seeking entry-level or experienced Instrument Repair Technicians to join our team. The Repair Technician will repair and maintain instruments in either our Retail based repair shops or in our specialty Flute Authority Department. The specialized Band Repair technician will possess the fundamental skills for instrument evaluation, repair, and new instrument setup for all Wind instruments. The ability to playtest each instrument is required. Our talented techs support professional customers, walk-in customers, school repairs, and store associates by assisting with the selling process.
Job Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of music instruments and equipment, including brass and woodwind instruments.
• Diagnose issues and recommend solutions to repair and correct performance.
• Maintain and update repair records for customers.
• Respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner and provide feedback.
• Attend school contests and festivals to provide on-site repair services.
• Maintains technical knowledge of tools and techniques.
• Maintain operational safety of the repair shop, including safely using tools and equipment, completing periodic audits, training, and hazardous material inventories.

Desired Qualifications:

• Graduation from a certificated instrument repair program.
• Must be able to play test all instruments being repaired.
• At least 1 year of experience in music instrument repair and maintenance.
• Ability to effectively communicate with customers and colleagues.
• Strong understanding of music instruments and equipment.
• Organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
