Social Worker - West Michigan Virtual

  • Masters of Social Work
  • Full approval as a School Social Worker or eligible for approval
  • Valid Michigan Social Work license through LARA
  • Amount of prior job experience as determined by the Board of Education or administration
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

Program Director

To Improve student social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes.

  • Provide services to special education students as assigned on the IEP.
  • Participate in educational planning, analyzing behavior and developing interventions.
  • Participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) by supporting teachers with data collection tools, intervention ideas and/or direct support for students in the general education setting.
  • Provide individuals, small groups and whole class instruction or interventions in the general education setting
  • Serve on the school wellness team and play a supportive role in crisis response in the event of a school crisis.
  • Possess knowledge of and seek professional development of best practice instructional and intervention strategies for social and emotional delays.
  • Educate students, staff, and families about best practice approaches to meeting individual student social and emotional needs
  • Attend school meetings such as Child Study Team meetings, IEP meetings, 504 meetings, Wellness Team meetings, MTSS meetings, or other meetings related to successfully supporting students with social and emotional needs.
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations. Including but not limited to maintaining regular, predictable records related to student performance on individualized goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
  • Skillful communicator and resolute on maintaining confidentiality. Strong in fostering relationships with students, staff, and families. Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with at-risk students including, but not limited to, children living in impoverished homes, students who have been or are at risk to being neglected and abused, students and families facing homelessness, or students who have emotional, behavioral, or cognitive delays.
  • Work as a liaison for students and their families to access community resources when needed
  • Comply with state and/or district policies on the use of seclusion and restraint.
  • Comply with district policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned

Start date: August 1, 2024

This position works 195 days per year and is eligible for health insurance benefits.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $57,000.00 per year
