This role will report directly to the Maintenance Superintendent in this full-time role, the successful candidate will lead a maintenance crew of Millwrights, Electricians, Welders and Contractors. Higher consideration will be granted to those who have previous experience in the wood remanufacturing sector in a Sawmill, Planer Mill or with forest products.

Functions and Responsibilities:

• Achieving Maintenance goals with the highest regard for employee safety;
• Capable of supporting troubleshooting & observations of machine centers with shift supervisors and other maintenance staff to ensure production and quality standards are met;
• Managing the department cost in an aggressive manner assuring optimum manufacturing unit cost; develop, and educate key metrics.
• Maintenance Planning, planning non-emergency maintenance, coordinating PM routes;
• Effectively communicating goals and/or instructions;
• Managing conflicts
• Supervising Weekend Maintenance and Cleanup personnel
• Maintenance of sawmill equipment (this includes but is not limited to De-Barkers, Gang Edgers, Trimmer, Sorter, Stacker, Conveyors, Chippers, Blowers, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems)
• Safety of the crew (Lock-Out Procedures, Field Level Hazard & Risk Assessments (FLHRA), Safety Audits)
• Training / mentoring apprentices
• Creating and planning improvement projects
• Managing parts with our purchaser
• Scheduling and attendance
• Will include periodic weekend coverage
• Inspecting completed work

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Prior Journeyman Electrician or Mill wright
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Well organized
• Minimum of five years (plus) of industrial experience
• Leadership and communication skills
• Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and background
