Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Qualifications:

• Current Florida RN License
• Minimum 1 year experience (required), 2 years preferred in OR
• Mandatory BLS and ACLS Certification.
• CNOR preferred
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Critical thinking skills.
• verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients and families.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Knowledgeable of policies and procedures specific to the operating room.
• Strong clinical skills and surgical experience
• Basic computer proficiency

Responsibilities:

• Proactive in being familiar with and maintaining a strong knowledge of AORN Guidelines and their appropriate application to the center’s environment, patients, and procedures.
• Provides and customizes nursing care to the patient during the intraoperative phase.
• Collaborates with surgical team to assure operating room, supplies, implants and equipment are readily available and functional prior to the start of the day’s cases.
• Oversees the Operating or Procedure Room during all surgeries/procedures.
• Collaborates with center team to ensure family member is available for communication with surgeon at end of each procedure.
• Reviews preoperative checklist.
• Verifies surgical consent(s).
• Proactively leads or supports time out process before every procedure.
• Documents all assessments and care provided.
• Ensures all entries are legible, timely, and concise.
• Authenticates all entries.
• Transfers patient to PACU providing thorough post-procedure report to PACU nurse.
• Proactively maintains required education and/or training to support role.
• Proactively attends all center drills to include Malignant Hyperthermia and Mock Code.
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $37.00 - $43.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
