Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Purchasing Manager. As the Purchasing Manager, you will play a critical role in managing the procurement process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and supplies for our construction projects. Your expertise in vendor management, negotiation, and supply chain optimization will support our operations and maintain our competitive edge.

Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with the company's goals and objectives. Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes, identifying cost-saving opportunities and streamlining operations.
  • Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturers. Evaluate vendors' capabilities, negotiate contracts, and establish favorable terms and conditions. Monitor vendor performance, ensuring adherence to quality standards, delivery schedules, and pricing agreements.
  • Inventory Control: Oversee inventory management, ensuring optimal materials and supplies are maintained to support ongoing projects. Implement inventory tracking systems and procedures to minimize stockouts and excess inventory, maximizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Cost Analysis and Budgeting: Conduct regular cost analysis to identify pricing trends, market fluctuations, and opportunities for cost reduction. Collaborate with the finance team to develop accurate budgets, forecasts, and financial reports related to procurement activities.
  • Sourcing and Supplier Development: Identify new suppliers and potential sources of materials and services, conducting market research and supplier evaluations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to qualify suppliers and onboard them into the procurement process, ensuring compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations with vendors to secure favorable terms, pricing, and service level agreements. Ensure all contractual obligations are met and manage any disputes or issues arising during the procurement process.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, such as potential disruptions, price fluctuations, or quality issues. Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to minimize project delays and cost overruns.
  • Compliance and Ethics: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in all procurement activities. Promote transparency, fairness, and integrity in vendor selection and purchasing processes.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Professional in Supply Management) are a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar role within the construction industry, preferably in commercial drywall construction.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, supplier management, and supply chain optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts and establish favorable terms with suppliers.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, focusing on cost control and process improvement.
  • Proficient in using procurement software and systems for inventory management and data analysis.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders and build relationships with external partners.
