100% ON SITE ROLE
Duties
The main function of this role is to operate and maintain a 3D Depth Sensing Characterization Lab. This includes running test plans on robotic test automation on AR and VR devices, including next generation laser projectors, cameras and sensors including structured light, stereo, ToF, and a broad array of imaging optics. Maintaining the lab is also a focus of this role, ensuring that our tests are accurate, repeatable, and efficiently run.
Job Responsibilities:
Tightly interact with a small team performing experiments in the role of Test Engineer, while developing and maintaining lab equipment, and lab management.
Work with early product prototypes. This may involve device bring-up, configuration, and failure analysis.
Support the evaluation and characterization of optical components and system integrations.
Collaborate with the larger research team to explore concepts and drive optical system development to create compelling user experiences.
Develop a strong understanding of specifications for imaging and depth systems.
Baseline Requirements:
- Experience/Comfortable working in the lab.
- 2 years recent programming or scripting experience (e.g. MATLAB, python, or similar)
- Strong with test infrastructure and automation/maintenance
- Motion control experience and programming
- Comfortable with tools, car maintenance experience
- Discipline and persistence- soft skills
- Experience maintaining a professional lab environment enforcing proper organization, maintenance, documentation, and cleanliness.
- Working, communicating, and collaborating in a cross-functional team environment.
- Experience with optical breadboarding
- Experience with one or more of the following optics technologies: illumination, radiometry/photometry, physical optics, or imaging.
- Experience in radiometric calibration, signal-to-noise measurement, and modeling of imaging systems.
- Python or C skills proficiency
- Hands on experience with factory or lab fixture design, use of basic hand tools and simple machining.
- Solidworks proficiency
- 5 years experience working directly with hardware systems such as lasers, imaging devices, medical devices, gaming consoles, etc.
- A history of problem solving and hardware troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience working across disciplines.
- Bachelor or Advanced degree in the field of Optical Sciences, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field or equivalent experience
