Special Education Coordinator Position

This position is with Cooperative School Services (West Central School Corporation holds the contracts for CSS employees). Cooperative School Services is based in Rensselaer and serves nine school corporations (Benton Community, Frontier, Kankakee Valley, North Newton, North White, Rensselaer Central, South Newton, Tri-County and West Central).

Position: Special Education Coordinator (K – 12)

Job Requirements

• Degree in Special Education and Indiana Teaching License in Special Education
• Professional teaching experience with students with disabilities
• Effective spoken and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively work as a team member either as a leader or as a participant
• Willingness to accept direction and ability to effectively complete assigned tasks on time
• Ability to manage resources including materials, personnel and time
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail and accuracy of information
• Knowledge of community resources to assist individuals with disabilities
• Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
• Ability to lead training sessions on special education related topics

Job Description

• Serve as a member and resource to Multidisciplinary Teams for initial evaluations and reevaluations
• Coordinate and conduct case conferences in a manner consistent with state and federal regulations
• Monitor research and best practices in Special Education, disseminating information to appropriate personnel and stakeholders
• Plan, coordinate, lead and manage on-going staff development regarding Special Education services
• Serve as a resource for students, parents and school personnel in removing barriers to educational progress and developing alternatives and support systems
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Article 7 and Indiana IEP
• Additional duties may be assigned

Additional Information

• Start Date: Early August 2024
• Work Week: Monday- Friday, 7.5 hours/day
• Contract Length: 195 days, following school schedule
• Paid Time Off (PTO): 13 (First year)/ 10 (Succeeding years: 3 days per year for any days brought with them)
• Salary: Based on Experience/Education
