West CAP is Hiring a Housing Technician Near Glenwood, WI

West CAP–an innovative, progressive organization dedicated to creating Strong, Secure Families, and Stable Communities since 1965, is hiring full-time Housing Technicians to join the production team performing weatherization measures and rehabilitation of residential homes.

Responsibilities:

Assist crew foreman in analyzing project and tasks; maintaining tools, equipment, & vehicles; performing tasks with minimal supervision; and maintaining project in absence of crew foreman.

Responsible for using technical evaluation tools to evaluate and perform energy conservation weatherization measures on existing housing structures to include but not limited to upgrading heating systems and constructing distribution systems.

Responsible for performing various work on existing home structures including: insulating attics & sidewalls, working on mobile home bellies, and hanging doors and windows in existing places, limited floor repair, trim & finish work, sheet rock repair, roofing, basic electric & plumbing, framing, handicap accessibility, and new construction.

Responsible to learn and follow all West CAP and Weatherization safety programs and rules.

Assist in maintaining clean and safe work-site and produce quality service for program participants. Responsible for working in accordance with appropriate regulations to maintain a safe work environment.

Work with crew foreman, program participant, other weatherization staff and management to improve quality of work environment and services provided.

Assist with maintaining project documents including shippers, returns, hour tracking, or any other paperwork required to complete the project.

West CAP property repairs and maintenance, performing repairs on work orders such as but not limited to drywall repair, carpentry, boiler repair, caulking, bath fan repair, minor plumbing, painting and staining, cleaning out dryer vents, lock and key replacement, electrical fixture repair, and notification to property manager of any plumbing electric and/or mechanical systems that will require a licensed or specialty contractor.

Occasionally conduct property check of grounds, playgrounds, condition of landscaping, sidewalks and driveways and report to maintenance coordinator on any repairs or improvements that need to be made. Occasionally monitor contracted services performed at sites.

Develop skills on a continual basis through education, recertifications, and in-house trainings.

Qualifications include a minimum of a high school or equivalent degree, 2-3 years experience in the construction field, ability to obtain lead renovator certification, ability to lift up to 50#, to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, experience using trade tools as well as a solid knowledge of construction safety measures.
