Description

Under the general supervision of the laboratory and ER directors, charge ER nurse and administrative medical technologist, the employee assumes the responsibility for performing venipuncture, skin punctures,obtaining specimen swabs (Flu and Throat) and performing waived occult blood tests. The employee is responsible for performing the duties of registering patients in a manner to promote positive relationships with patients,visitors, physicians and hospital department. The employee ensures quality performance by gathering and entering accurate and complete information for billing and collection processes critical for reimbursement. The employee will work with medical records, the business office, physician offices, home health agencies and the LIS Coordinator to obtain diagnosis codes in a timely fashion. The employee assists patients in understanding the forms to be signed, their patient rights, and informs patients of hospital policies and procedures.

Educational Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Special Requiurements:

• Work alternating shifts, holidays and weekends. Type 30 WPM. Experience with computer terminal or personal computer. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance regulations helpful.
• CPR Certified
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Excellent customer relation skills
