West Alabama Works, a nationally recognized workforce system based in Tuscaloosa, AL, is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate and execute workforce events across a nine-county region. This role involves liaising with community leaders, education partners, and stakeholders, as well as spearheading strategies within one of our five industry clusters. Responsibilities:

• Organizes employer meetings, both individually and within industry clusters, to assess current and future workforce needs in the region.
• Collaborates with local agencies, training providers, and the Workforce Council to supply data on training needs and regional workforce demands to state agencies.
• Maintains regular communication with Pre-K-12, postsecondary, and higher education officials to discuss workforce needs and initiatives aimed at bolstering the talent pipeline.
• Promotes available workforce training programs and facilitates connections between public and private entities seeking training services.
• Matches training requests with suitable providers and assists in coordinating activities for successful outcomes.
• Conducts presentations to various stakeholders to foster cooperation, gather feedback, and establish partnerships to address regional workforce needs effectively.
• Tracks projects and grants for West Alabama Works, including grant report preparation and submission.
• Supports the planning and execution of West Alabama Works events.
• Organizes and oversees community and rural outreach events.
• Leads the implementation of Transfr virtual reality career exploration with youth to guide students toward future career paths.
• Represents West Alabama Works in community forums and public speaking engagements.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Chamber & West Alabama Works.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• Familiarity with workforce and economic development is advantageous
• Flexible to adapt to evolving programs and workforce demands
• Strong public speaking abilities
• Collaborative approach to engage with diverse stakeholders including education, industry, and government
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Personable with exceptional interpersonal skills
• Organized with excellent time management
• Self-motivated and professional
• Demonstrates innovation in proposing new ideas and solutions
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Availability during regular office hours and for morning/evening meetings
• Willingness to travel
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
