weSPARK Cancer Support Center is Hiring an Event Coordinator (FT) Near Sherman Oaks, CA

  • This is an in-person, full-time, hourly position
  • The Work Schedule is 36 hours per week:
  • Mon - Thursday 8 hours a day: 9:30am - 6:00pm (less 30 min lunch)
  • Friday 4 hours: 9:00am - 1:00pm.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: 
Experienced, passionate, person with a good sense of humor to lead, coordinate and oversee fundraising events. This position requires a high degree of multitasking and the ability to switch projects while maintaining efficiency and accuracy. Working in conjunction with and under the direction of the Director of Development to establish new relationships and grow fundraising opportunities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Organize and lead fundraising events, including: Poker Tournament, Comedy Show, Jazz events, Movie screenings and 5K/10K Run Walk events.
  • Assist with events planning and logistics, including; event promotion, tracking revenue & expenses, registrations, website updates, volunteers, ordering event material and supplies and the day-of logistics.
  • Assist with Annual Giving Campaign and Year-End Appeal mailings.
  • Assist with third party fundraisers. Providing marketing information, communicating goals and tasks with fundraisers, promoting event and attending events as needed. 
  • Assist Direct of Development with donor engagement reports, track and analyze donor engagement statistics.
  • Oversee and cultivate event volunteers: clear communication with set tasks and logistics, coordinate day of event, building rapport and giving recognition.
  • Various administrative tasks as necessary to assist Director of Development.
  • Curate and create Development-specific social media content as needed for (Facebook, Instagram & LinkedIn).
  • Manage Development email database through Constant Contact.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Education and Experience: College degree and minimum of three years event planning, development and coordinating experience.
  • Project Management skills: Ability to work independently, self-motivate, and manage multiple tasks at once; experience developing, planning and coordinating events.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional oral and excellent written communication skills; Excellent attention to detail; Confident and effective writing skills; ability to clearly communicate event goals and tasks to staff, volunteers and board members; comfortable with public speaking.
  • Technology Skills: Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, CRM database knowledge (DonorPerfect), online registration platforms (OneCause), internet tools, graphics (Canva), website maintenance and social media (Facebook, Instagram & LinkedIn)
  • Team Work and Leadership Skills: Willing to provide administrative support when necessary, must be able to cultivate and coordinate teams of volunteer for various events, good delegating skills and effectively step into leadership role as necessary.
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs. 
  • Valid Driver’s License, current automobile insurance and reliable transportation.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination. (booter shots are not required)
