Wesco is Hiring a Remote Senior Analyst - Commercial Analytics (remote)

As a Senior Analyst - Commercial Analytics you will be responsible for providing reports and analytical support around internal systems data (sales & margin, purchases, inventory, etc.) and helping to drive business measurement and opportunity identification in commercial functions. You will complete reporting projects end-to-end by gathering requirements, designing solutions, extracting data and deriving insights. You will work cross-functionally and cross-organizationally to ensure reporting quality and consistency in reporting activities in internal systems as well as delivering external data collection and market, customer and competitor insights for leaders and decision makers. You will be skilled in data collection, data analysis, data synthesis and insights communication (explaining conclusions clearly and concisely with an ability to tie results back to standard business and financial KPIs).

Your team's goal will be to improve the sales team's selling velocity and increase sales per employee. 

How will your team do it?

  • You bring value by measuring our KPIs and key metrics (Pipeline Size, Pipeline Health, Sales Velocity, Forecast) so we can create a cohesive picture of what’s working and what is not for sales leadership.
  • Your bring value by decomposing those top level KPIs into measures of performance drivers for those KPIs.
  • You bring value by, within those performance drivers, identifying: the opportunities for improvement in our sales teams; inefficiencies (including in territory designs); and sales strengths that can be leveraged for growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Extract & analyze data from CRM and ERP systems to solve a business problem
  • Build queries to get data needed for dashboards, reports, analysis
  • Build Power BI dashboards to visualize data and democratize information to our internal customers
  • Analyze reports and dashboards for actionable insights that solve business problems
  • Execute directed and undirected data mining to find new trends or insights that lead to deeper understanding of our business
  • Partner with Data Science, Data Engineering, Data Insights, other functional analytics teams and business sales leaders to execute complex reporting and analytics projects. 
  • Execute regular and ad-hoc reports in support of commercial teams.
  • Design & build data visualizations, reports and dashboards in team BI tools to be shared with internal audiences.
  • Conceive, design and execute basic and complex models (descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive) to provide insights and recommendations that drive business behavior.
  • Analyze customer and company data to identify trends and potential opportunities, and measure achievement toward goals, for WESCO’s customers, suppliers, operating businesses and internal functions.
  • Conduct research to support business decision making, with emphasis in sales and marketing activities.
  • Collect, enter and maintain data pertaining to business performance, customer behavior, market intelligence and/or competitive intelligence.
  • Support commercial and cross-functional project teams with data, analysis, information and insights.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Statistics, Information Systems, Marketing, or Mathematics required. Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems or Analytics preferred.
  • 4 years required of analyzing data to identify insights
  • 2 years required of working with relational database (ex: AWS, Teradata, MS SQL Server, Azure, MS Access, etc.)
  • 2 years preferred of working with data science/data modeling tools (ex: SAS, Altyrex, SPSS, DataRobot, etc.)
  • 2 years preferred of working with business-to-business (B2B) wholesale distribution selling environments
  • 2 years preferred of working with customers in construction, utility, industrial or technology infrastructure customer verticals
  • Demonstrated success in measuring and analyzing CRM opportunity pipeline data. Examples may include Sales Velocity, Pipeline Size, Avg. Selling Cycle Time, Win Rate, Avg. Deal Size, Pipeline Forecast; preferred
  • Familiarity with with coding languages; preferred 
  • Experience creating data visualizations / dashboards in a tool (ex: Power BI, Tableau, OBIEE, etc.); preferred
  • Critical thinking – demonstrated ability to turn data into information into insight and solve complex problems that require independent judgment with no prescribed procedures required
  • Highly proficient in mathematical calculations and concepts (algebra, geometry) required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products – highly proficient in Excel required
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information in a straightforward manner using precise language, especially to non-technical audiences required
  • Proficiency with statistical/probabilistic calculations and concepts required
  • Proficiency in SQL or other data-oriented programming languages required
  • Familiarity with data science concepts (ex: supervised & unsupervised learning models, simulation, optimization) required; proficiency preferred
