1. Cardiovascular Service Requirements- Under supervision and following established procedures and protocols performs graded exercise stress tests, pharmacological stress tests, holter monitor, event monitor, ECGs and other related cardiac diagnostic procedures.
a. Checks supplies and calibrates metabolic cart each morning it will be used. Performs calibrations to standard and is able to troubleshoot problems when calibration quality is poor. Records data. Performs routine maintenance on equipment and knows procedures for getting technical support from manufacturers. Maintains ample inventory and cleans exam rooms.
b. Obtains requisition and assures accurate data prior to test. Interviews patient and/or family to obtain other pertinent details regarding diagnosis, symptoms, and medications. Relays pertinent information to the provider over seeing stress testing for the day.
c. Helps patient to understand and prepare for a procedure or treatment in conjunction with the provider.
d. Performs standard exercise stress test as well as nuclear medicine stress test and accurately records all data including blood pressure, heart rate, ECG changes, transcutaneous oximetry (as requested), and patient symptoms.
e. Performs metabolic exercise stress tests and accurately runs treadmill or stationary bicycle with ECG cart and metabolic cart. Obtains maximum Vo2 uptake, Co2 output, heart rate, blood pressure, ECG, transcutaneous oximetry (as requested).
f. Runs all exercise equipment: ECG cart, treadmill, stationary bicycle. Is familiar with common protocols and assesses when change in protocol is warranted.
g. Uses non-scheduled time appropriately by performing ECGs, cardiac holter monitor placement, event monitor placement, analyzing returned cardiac holter monitors, compiling event monitor reports for physician interpretation.
h. Exhibits flexibility in assignments and performance expectations. 

2. Arrhythmia Recognition- Is able to recognize abnormal rhythms and initiate the proper follow up or emergency procedures accordingly.
a. Recognize abnormal cardiac rhythms pre, during, post procedure and make appropriate recommendations for patient disposition.
b. Scan Halter Monitors for abnormalities in cardiac rhythm and make notations accordingly. Follow guidelines for critical finding reporting procedures.
c. When performing electrocardiograms, is able to identify abnormalities and life threatening arrhythmias and follows guidelines for critical finding reporting procedures.
d. Reviews previous exams to ensure any abnormalities are not a new finding and reports any new changes to patients nurses and physician.
e. Meets annual ECG competency requirements.

3. Administrative Functions- Can operate independently completing all required administrative tasks.
a. Is able to cross reference charge capture reports off of data/exam summary reports in order to ensure correct charging occurs.
b. Is able to input a patient order entry into Syngo and Soarian Clinicals.
c. Accurately uses tracking logs for halter monitors, event monitors, and critical findings.
d. Is proficient in the use of all applicable department software applications.
e. Makes courtesy calls to patients scheduled for stress testing to review preparation and answer questions prior to the day of their test.

4. Self Assessment- Monitor personal work ethics and attitude to ensure maximal team contribution.
a. Recommends improvement in work process.
b. Evaluates own performance and recognizes opportunities for improvement.
c. Seeks constructive feedback regarding own practice.
d. Attends and participates in on-going QA meetings/program.

Qualifications

Experience Minimum Required
• Two years experience in medical field with direct patient care or one year experience in cardiac stress testing. 
Experience Preferred/Desired
• Two years experience in cardiac stress testing. 
 
Education Minimum Required

• High School Diploma and an Assoc Degree, technical or military training or equivalent patient care related experience. 
Education Preferred/Desired
• Bachelors in Exercise Physiology, Health Science or related . 

Special Skills Minimum Required
• Professional in interacting with people of various backgrounds, skill levels, and value systems.
• To have a calm, reassuring demeanor.
• To be able to handle sensitive issues.
• To have the ability to provide excellent internal and external customer service and must also have the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Successfully complete one of the following certifications (CCT, RCIS, or ACSM CEP) within one year of hire and maintain certification.
• AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider (upon hire)
• Basic Arrhythmia (within 6 months of hire)
• ACLS (within 1 year of hire)
• IV certification (within 6 months of hire)
• CCT, RCIS, or ACSM CEP within 1 year of hire

Licensure and/or Certifications Required
• CCT within 1 year of hire 
• AHA or ARC BLS w/in 14 days of hire
• ACLS within 1 year 
Licensure and/or Certifications Preferred/Desired
• RCIS
