Wells Fargo is Hiring a Director of Middleware Engineering Near NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Technology Director to lead the web and application server build and engineering processes for our enterprise middleware service offerings, as well as lead the middleware integration and messaging services for Wells Fargo that includes IBM MQ Series, Solace, and Kafka.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the global middleware engineering team responsible for delivering software for Wells Fargo’s application and presentation layers of the on-prem and cloud infrastructure stack

  • Ensure system availability, integrity, and security across all infrastructure components, adhering to industry best practices and compliance requirements 

  • Standardize or refine the middleware product catalogue via product rationalization and centralization of middleware offerings

  • Manage a team of engineering managers and engineering leads to achieve objectives

  • Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities

  • Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders

  • Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans for projects while encouraging innovation

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation and the adoption of new tools and technologies to improve middleware, web and integration efficiency and effectiveness

  • Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third-party providers

  • Identify opportunities for financial management optimization and strategic resourcing

  • Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives

  • Develop strategies for hiring engineering talent while developing and guiding a culture of talent development to meet business and strategy objectives

  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers

  • Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums

  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership

Required Qualifications, US:

  • 8 years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 6 years leadership in an application development environment managing an organization of 100 team members including highly technical senior managers and individual contributors across multi-site locations

  • 4 years of Management experience

  • Ability to translate broad corporate strategies into clear, specific objectives and plans for units and individuals

  • Ability to effectively partner and influence at the executive level

  • Ability to effectively drive and lead change in an organization with Wells Fargo’s size, scale and complexity

  • Demonstrated experience in building, leading, developing and retaining a high performing team of leaders, strong technical experts and high-performing professionals in a cultural environment that achieves results through team member engagement and satisfaction.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large portfolio of technology efforts across several major lines of business and effectively partner/influence across verticals

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of financial, operational, technical and regulatory drivers impacting a complex and dynamic global technology environment

  • Ability to develop technology strategy, operating model & roadmaps with clear objectives and aligned with business and enterprise strategies
