Wells Fargo is Hiring a Consumer Operations Technology Executive Near COLUMBUS, OH

Wells Fargo seeks a Distinguished Engineer to join our Consumer Operations Technology Group and drive Engineering Excellence Transformation across the organization. This is an individual contributor role.

In order to accelerate developer productivity and market innovation, we seek a Distinguished Engineer to deliver modern and innovative customer platform capabilities in Private and Public Clouds. Individual will be responsible for driving Engineering Excellence transformation focused on increase throughput speed by adopting Modern Development Environment, Standardized Frameworks, Enterprise Tools and Processes to deliver high quality product and reduce operational complexity. This leader will provide thought leadership and influence senior technology leaders across the organization, as well as guide engineering managers to implement infrastructure, engineering and data best practices. Also, the leader is responsible for building world-class engineering talent across the organization and driving high quality cloud engineering platforms with a "developer" (customer)-first mindset. 

Position Summary:

  • Act as a top subject matter expert to lead the most complex, innovative and diverse initiatives with enterprise impact, high risk and with significant scope, cost and benefits
  • Provide guidance and oversight to multiple teams working on numerous projects or developing various forms of technologies
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of the most complex and significant challenges across multiple areas
  • Oversee products and projects conception, design and initial product specifications, scheduling, estimating and securing materials
  • Deliver solutions that are long term, large scale, broad reaching, and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking and coordination of highly complex activities and resolution
  • Provide vision, leadership, and industry expertise regarding large scale companywide strategies that significantly influence the organization's business and financial operations
  • Conduct engineering studies and investigations and submit findings to leadership
  • Lead all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise
  • Serve as an advisor to leadership; represent the company externally in industry networking and trade and technical events
  • A cross-disciplinary and technology focus, working with other teams across products such as Technical Architecture, Infrastructure engineering, and data engineering
  • Deliver modernization activities in the tech stack in line with overall strategy, including large enterprise applications to PaaS, SaaS based deployments, breaking apart a monolith, advancement of development ecosystems and enabler for the move to Cloud First and Data First business strategies.
  • Partner with Business Partners (SRE/Architecture/development teams) on stability opportunities based on reporting/trending findings and operational readiness.
  • Establish and define middleware, database and architectural principles across application development and infrastructure, as well as provide technical leadership and consulting across the organization. 
  • Cross-functional infrastructure engineering activities across the segment to enable agile delivery and high availability and to accelerate design and estimation processes. 
  • Capable of thinking through the “end to end technology stack” in support of business continuity, with a strong focus on the full-stack resilience part of the stack. 
  • Lead the solutions engineering team, aligning IT strategy, architecture and planning with modern banking strategy to meet both short- and long-term operational goals. 
  • Partner with cloud platform engineering teams, risk and compliance teams to bring visibility to data engineering in Cloud-enabled data platforms, and implement the right controls and automation tools.
  • Develop secure data at rest patterns in conjunction with data at rest and data in transit security leadership and provide "tiered security controls" at the outset to reduce development cost for developers.
  • Execute rationalization of infrastructure technologies and implement a common set of operational standards across products by establishing a database center of excellence.
  • Implement out-of-region application infrastructure modernization patterns across products that drive faster adoption.
  • Partner with external technology vendors to drive innovation by defining epics that finance industry regulators mandate such as GDPR, G-SIBs etc.,
  • Deliver high-quality data platform products. Bring a strong focus on "customers" – primarily developers and their usage of consumer technology platforms.

Required Qualifications, US:

  • 10 years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience leading large engineering teams in cloud enabled open source application infrastructure technologies
  • Experience in DevOps and GitOps models with infra-as-code, config-as-code, policy-as-code, etc. with technologies such as Terraform
  • Experience with on-premises based Private Cloud and Public Cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS
  • Experience in container-native technologies such as Kubernetes, containers, virtualization, network, etc.
  • Experience in data replication technologies such as golden gate, global databases, cdc, etc.
  • Experience delivering large scale distributed enterprise database platforms with focus on performance, scale, security, and reliability
  • Experience managing autonomous database pipelines
  • Experience with containers-related technologies and CI/CD tools – Jenkins, pipelines, liquibase etc.
  • Experience in infra-automation tools – Ansible, Java, Python, etc.
  • Familiarity with cloud security best practices including managed database platforms on Azure, Google, Virtual Private Cloud, Identity Access Management, Security Groups, Security Key Management, and Data Encryption
  • Hands-on experience in the recent years developing and engineering cloud-based platform or applications at scale
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational, leadership, communication, coaching, and troubleshooting skills
  • Industry recognized specialty cloud certifications are a must
  • Masters in Business Administration is preferred

Job Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to work a hybrid work schedule - 3 days a week on-site/in office and 2 days a week remote.
