Group Description
The office of the CTO has been tasked with the technology transformation of the firm. This includes leading and managing the cloud, Agile implementation, engineering, architecture, and all the tools, products, and training that will enable team members to achieve our transformation.
About this role
Wells Fargo is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineering Manager for the private cloud engineering team. The Private Cloud Engineering team is responsible for Well Fargo's on-premise Cloud hosting capabilities.
The team is comprised of a diverse and global workforce, operating out of multiple locations in the United States and India.
The Cloud Platform Engineering Manager will be responsible for the REDIS and Middleware teams, providing private cache capabilities for our Cloud platforms alongside delivery and maintenance of our container images. As a technical and thought leader, you will use your experience to help shape the future of Cloud enablement at scale at Wells Fargo.
Your skills will be used to transform the capabilities of the team, adopting Agile methodologies and improving development velocity and quality through CICD, test-driven development and reliability practices. You will drive our pivot to a product-centric organization, partnering with our nascent Product Management team to deliver to stakeholder requirements.
As a senior leader, you will also partner with senior stakeholders and executives across the firm to drive strategic outcomes.
The Engineering Manager must adopt and support a culture of diversity, intellectual curiosity, problem solving and openness.
Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide thought-leadership and expertise to formulate and execute on major engineering strategies
  • Establish strong relationships with internal business leaders and executives to align to and drive strategic outcomes
  • Work with Principal Engineers and internal customers to develop robust and scalable solutions
  • Work with Product Management to establish prioritization and provide on-going transparency into delivery pipeline
  • Transform the team's practices to adopt Agile methodologies, with a focus on improving quality and velocity
  • Manage through matrix organization where necessary, and work to align deliverables across partner teams
  • Hire, mentor and guide talent development of direct reports to build the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for the supported product areas/products
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for technology engineering including career development and performance management for engineers and managers on the team
Required Qualifications:
  • 4 years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4 years of technology experience
  • 4 years of software platform experience
  • 3 years of Agile experience
  • 2 years of Leadership experience
  • Experience with high availability architectures and patterns to ensure business continuity of technology services
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with fellow technology leaders to drive strategic outcomes
  • Ability to prepare and present senior level communications

  • Demonstrated ability to consult with key business partners and translate complex, technical concepts so that they are clearly understood along with the ability to effectively partner and influence at the senior executive level
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) with ability to communicate at multiple levels ranging from technologists to senior managers and executive leadership

Job Expectations:
  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule - 3 days per week on-site/in office and 2 days per week remote
