About this role
The Licensed Mental Health Professional in a Local Detention facility will conduct initial screenings, diagnostic evaluations, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to patients in accordance with state and federal regulations. They will also maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans. The job requires adherence to licensure standards and policies and procedures of the facility.
Additional Details
**Active, Unrestricted Maryland License Required (LCSW-C, LCPC, LCMFT)**The main responsibilities would be managing the task list, prioritizing/triaging mental health concerns, assessing safety for patients on suicide watch to determine continued need for suicide watch placement vs discontinuing watch, following up with patients for routine follow ups and referring patients to the psychiatric provider as appropriate.
What you bring to the table
Education
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or Other Related Mental Health discipline
Experience
One (1) or more years of experience in a Mental Health treatment program, preferably in a Correctional or Hospital setting
Licenses/Certifications
Unrestricted, current license in the State of practice - e.g. LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LMHC, Psychologist
Must maintain all licensures, certifications, continuing educational requirements, etc.
What you will do
Conducts intake evaluations, provides therapeutic interventions, and makes appropriate recommendations for patients referred by security, healthcare staff, and other community sources.
Provides suicide risk assessments and prevention interventions, and conducts daily evaluations of patients' treatment needs.
Coordinates closely with prescribing providers to ensure timely evaluations for medication and encourages medication adherence.
Participates in treatment team meetings, provides staff training on mental health topics, and documents all findings in patient health records.
Oversees the clinical needs of patients on their caseload, provides crisis intervention services, and may assist in the job shadow portion of the interview process and orientation/training of new employees.
