Job Description
The Materials Clerk will provide some clerical and light duty support to the purchasing process and assigned department staff with specific responsibility for processing purchasing documents, materials, and responding to related inquiries; along with maintaining vendor/source information and inventories.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Position will receive, check in, unpack and distribute incoming deliveries for department pickup or delivery.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Assisting in maintaining materials documents, files and records for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Assist in performing general and program specific clerical functions (e.g. answering the telephones, distributing purchase orders, scheduling, copying, faxing, etc.) for the purpose of supporting departmental activities.
• Assist in reviewing documents and data (e.g. incoming requisitions, past purchase, reconciliations, inventories, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring completeness and accuracy of purchasing/materials process.
• Maintains records in accordance with established policies and procedures and audit guidelines.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
• Carries out other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Three years experience in a purchasing environment or related field required (medical setting preferred).
• Requires a valid Texas Driver's License, appropriate driving record and auto liability insurance that meets the minimum required by State of Texas statute.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Knowledge of purchasing/materials and contracting policies, laws and regulations
• Energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.
• The ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite.
• Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.
• Superior organizational and problem solving skills
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand for periods of time.
• Physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to work with a moderate noise level in the work environment is required.
The occupant may, at times, lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
