DescriptionPOSITION TITLE: Residential Supervisor
PROGRAM: Residential Services
General Statement Of ResponsibilitiesThe Residential Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day to day operation of the Therapeutic Group Home and may act as the Team Leader in his/her absence, including, but not limited to, the planning and implementation of daily schedules, daily reporting of program operations to the Team Leader, assisting in supervising direct care staff, monitoring interactions between staff and residents, monitoring behavior management systems, and ensuring the implementing of individual treatment plans. This position’s responsibilities are shared between two Residential Supervisors who act as peers and are mutually accountable for the responsibilities outlined below unless otherwise delineated by the Team Leader.

Supervises: Childcare workers, Youth Specialists and/or staff designated by Supervisor
Summary Of Responsibilities
  • The Residential Supervisor is responsible for, in conjunction with the Team Leader, implementing and maintaining the operation of the Therapeutic Group Home through the creation of a safe, productive treatment program. This may include:
  • Oversight and maintenance of building security, fire safety, and health code standards and fuel/electrical consumption.
  • Scheduling of personnel to provide appropriate shift supervision and coverage, assignment of staff shift duties, facilitation of shift operations, adherence to daily schedules, with final approval by the Team Leader.
  • Oversight of planning and organizing activities for residents.
  • Oversight of appropriate medical treatment, including routine care and medication administration in conjunction with the Agency Nurse.
  • Oversight of the appropriate presentation of the physical appearance of the building and grounds including, implementation of a regular system of house cleaning, assignment of chores, permanent jobs and grounds maintenance.
  • Maintenance and supervision of appropriate records such as daily logs, medical records, resident filing systems, incident reports, medical logs, staff logs.
  • Oversight and maintenance of child nutrition program.
  • Implements program strategies involving the management of crisis intervention, hospitalizations, runaways, violent behavior, school problems or issues regarding home visits.
  • Participates in all meetings as requested by the Team Leader which may include staff, resident, treatment team or school.
  • Attends and participates in all Agency and inter-agency meetings as requested.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of resident’s family involvement as indicated by the Individual Treatment Plan.
  • The Residential Supervisor is responsible for the appropriate communication of the needs and performance of staff and residents within the Therapeutic Group Home to the Team Leader and/or Child Division Vice President or designee. The Residential Supervisor is responsible for the presentation, support and implementation of agency policies and procedures. The Residential Supervisor will participate in the evaluation process of the Program.
  • The Residential Supervisor position is responsible for the application of appropriate behavior management practices as well as utilizing various therapeutic strategies in the areas of crisis management, trauma informed programming, inter-resident conflict resolution and other situations as they may arise.
  • The Residential Supervisor is an integral part of the personnel management system. The Residential Supervisor, in conjunction with the Team Leader, assists in training of staff in the therapeutic model.
  • The Residential Supervisor participates in the creation of Individual Treatment Plans and facilitates their implementation and ensures the proper documentation on each resident and the overall milieu in the form of logs, daily forms, reports, etc.
  • The Residential Supervisor shall be ready to perform any tasks that may be reasonably assigned by the Team Leader and/or the Child Division Vice President that are needed to maintain the viability of the Therapeutic Group Home.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:Must have the ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality of both agency and client matters. Must understand and be able to display the clinical knowledge and expertise necessary to perform crisis intervention. Must be able to display knowledge and expertise about the
populations served by the Therapeutic Group Home. Must be physically capable of participating in physical interventions (i.e., restraints and therapeutic holds). Must be capable of working as a part of a team and be able to effectively communicate with both families and professionals (in writing and verbally). Working knowledge of the greater Waterbury area is a must. Bilingual (Spanish – English) may be required.
Must Possess, Readily Obtain And Maintain The Following Licenses/certificates/training
  • CPR and First Aid training (through a certified Red Cross Program)
  • Connecticut Public Service Driver’s License (which includes a physical examination and fingerprinting).
  • DCF Medication Administration Certification
  • DCF approved TCI training
  • Periodic Physical and PPD testing as required
  • Qualified Food Operator as requested
  • DCF Background History Check (CPA)
Education And ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in Social Work preferred. Two years experience in a human services related field working with cases similar to those served by the Group Home is required, four years experience is preferred. Experience providing staff supervision is required. Experience in Group Homes with children is strongly suggested.
Licensure/Certification/RegistrationMust have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record, reliable transportation and valid auto insurance.
