SUMMARY: This position assists in the services and operations of a school library program. A library aide provides ongoing support to the Learning Coach/Librarian, teachers, and students using resources and equipment in the school library. The position performs routine tasks in the areas of library materials and equipment circulation; basic computer and technology assistance, guidance and troubleshooting; student supervision and instruction; and a variety of other library tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: _ To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Assist staff and students with locating, using and circulating library materials
  • Assist with planning, scheduling and supervising student library visits and programs
  • Promote a welcoming, safe and positive library environment for all users
  • Organize, repair and maintain items within the library space
  • Provide basic assistance and troubleshooting with technology devices
  • Perform tasks within the library media database, generate overdue notices, and produce statistical reports
  • Maintain inventory of library collection, resources, and supplies
  • Develop positive and supportive relationships with students and staff members
  • Assist with recruitment, training and oversight of volunteers and student aides/helpers
  • Receive coaching and direction from Learning Coach/Librarian aligned to established roles & responsibilities
  • Support library-related goals, projects, policies and procedures as established by Weld RE-4 School District and the school Learning Coach/Librarian
  • Attend work and arrive in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in customer service with strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal background check
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • General knowledge of technology devices and personal computers
  • General knowledge of office software applications, including word processing and spreadsheets
  • General knowledge of basic clerical procedures such as filing, sorting, organizing, and shelving
  • Competency in online searching and information retrieval
  • Ability to communicate with users to determine the nature of assistance needed
  • Ability to be accurate in work and to pay attention to details
  • Ability to maintain honesty, integrity and confidentiality in all aspects of the job
  • Ability and willingness adhere to attendance requirements, including regular and punctual employee presence
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies and building and department procedures
  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
