Their proficiency extends to skillfully navigating intricate insurance requirements, efficiently managing claim submissions, and resolving billing discrepancies. With strong communication and problem-solving abilities, they adeptly navigate complex insurance procedures and collaborate seamlessly with internal teams to enhance efficiency in processes and optimize revenue outcomes. The preferred candidate will hold a Certified Professional Coder certification and possess 1-3 years of experience in coding and revenue cycle management. Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable. $33.34 - $42.23 per hour plus benefits (see benefits tab on the job posting). The position will normally start at $33.34 per hour.As an applicant for this position, you should be aware of Senate Bill 19-085, the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The act requires employers to announce the pay range for job openings. This range encompasses the nine pay steps available should you receive the position and demonstrate satisfactory performance over time.This position is exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore ineligible for overtime pay.The following job duties are established to outline the basic duties and responsibilities of the above captioned position. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Medical Coding & Billing (30%):• Assign accurate medical codes (ICD and CPT) to diagnoses, procedures, and services performed in compliance with regulatory standards.• Review medical records and documentation to ensure coding completeness, accuracy, and adherence to guidelines.• Generate and submit claims to insurance companies.• Verify insurance eligibility and coverage and ensures timely billing and collection processes.• Monitor claims status, identify, and resolve claims denials or discrepancies, and appeal rejected claims as necessary. Revenue Cycle Management (40%):• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly tasks between the EMR and the County’s accounting software.• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions. Reconcile accounting information between systems to ensure accuracy and completeness of information provided in fiscal reporting.• Collaborate with healthcare providers and administration staff to streamline revenue cycle workflows. General Accounting (20%):• Assist in the development of the annual County budget for the division, as well as individual programs, grant budgets, and grant requests.• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial activity reports which serve as billing documents for various State and Federal grants and programs. Complete and analyze reasonableness of monthly cost allocations of costs benefiting numerous Federal and State programs and grants.• Acquire and retain knowledge of policies, procedures, and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment regulations related to various Health Department programs. Update program information and protocol by attending continuing education courses related to program responsibilities. Keep up to date technically and apply new knowledge to the job. Complete position specific training or public health emergency response activities.• Enter data into several different computer programs; learn and apply new computer skills on a regular basis using a strong working knowledge of computer programs used daily such as electronic health records, financial program specific software applications, Microsoft Windows, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Other Duties as Assigned (10%):• Work the scheduled hours each day/week established for this position and be available as needed outside of normal operating hours to assist with response to public health emergencies or community outreach events. • Maintain sensitive and confidential records information. Follow the Weld County Code of Conduct and adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines, including HIPAA, and the appropriate non-disclosure and/or release of information. • Maintain professional conduct and adhere to the Public Health Code of Ethics. Comply with Federal, State, and local regulations and County policies and procedures. • Not all duties mentioned may be applicable to every position, and the examples provided do not encompass all possible duties that may exist within this job classification.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or related field. • 1-3 years of experience in medical coding, billing, and revenue cycle management. • 1-3 years of experience working in a medical clinic setting.• Equivalent combinations of education and work experience may be considered in lieu of degree. • Must have and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and use of personal, insured vehicle is required to perform job duties. Dependable transportation and auto insurance, maintained at all times, as required by State law, is required. • Must pass a criminal background check.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • 1-3 years of experience with government accounting.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.• Up to date knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and billing guidelines specific to public health programs. • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.• High accuracy and attention to detail in coding, billing, and documentation processes.• Bilingual in Spanish. • Certified Professional CoderPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
