Associate Attorney - Civil Defense Litigation

Wegman Partners is currently sourcing for a Civil Defense Litigation Associate Attorney for one of our Dallas law firm clients, with a minimum of 3-5 years of civil defense litigation experience. Associates will be expected to immediately begin managing multiple cases with varying levels of complexity. Professional, organized, and hard-working describe a successful candidate.

Essential Functions:

1. Case assessment for liability, loss and damages
2. Manage client reporting, billing, budgeting and case management requirements
3. Excellent interpersonal, networking and business development skills
4. Drafting and responding to discovery
5. Conducting depositions
6. Exceptional research, writing and briefing skills
7. Knowledge of federal, state and local rules
8. Meet or exceed monthly billable hour goals
9. Occasional travel required

Qualifications:

1. Demonstrates a high degree of commitment, honesty and integrity in all aspects
2. Licensed to practice in the State of Texas
3. Minimum of 3-5 years of civil defense litigation experience required
4. Able to work with a team in a collaborative environment or independently
5. Critical thinking that displays initiative and adaptability
6. Self-motivated, organized, detail oriented, efficient, hard-working
7. Strong communication, writing and presentations skills
8. Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office 2010-2016, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
9. Knowledgeable of Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome web browsers, pdf compatible software, and related productivity applications
10. Will consider 2019-2020 grads with the following: Texas licensed, mock trial experience from law school, top 50%, law review or law journal experience, completed evidence and Texas procedure with at least B average in both, prior clerking experience in insurance defense firm
