POSITION SUMMARY: Advanced material handling position responsible for processing and preparing orders of engineered wood and structural component building materials for shipment to customers at a Weekes Forest Products distribution center.

As an Engineered Wood Material Handler, you will execute operations processing and preparing product orders of engineered wood and structural components for distribution to customers. Your work environment will consist of inside, and outside, work areas. Each type of loading and unloading requires strict attention to safety and order accuracy. An ideal candidate will prefer a steady work style and enjoy executing clear objectives in a team focused environment.

Engineered Wood Material Handler Responsibilities:

  • Ability to utilize hand tools, power tools, gas chain saws, and other large capacity saws.
  • Ability to read paperwork including internal work orders or drawings.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure to cut materials for assembling customer orders.
  • Maintain knowledge of products offered, materials, and operational processes.
  • Ensure product standards are met and monitor quality compared to standards.
  • Properly pick and prepare orders to be staged for loading on a truck, and final delivery to dealers. Denote changes on orders for adjustments, damage, or other fulfillment notes.
  • Ability to use warehouse management system and enterprise system inventory control tools used to verify stock availability and inventory accuracy.
  • Follow daily production schedule and adjust to changes in workload dictated by customer needs.
  • Identify products and materials to be pulled from inventory, process material for fulfilling customized configurations, manage scrap and process waste to return to inventory.
  • Ability to account for inventory received into inventory upon receipt from material suppliers. Following inventory control receiving best practices.
  • Load and unload rail cars of transported materials.
  • Sort and move product departmentally while operating and using a variety of material handling equipment including a counter-balance forklift, side loading lift truck or other material handling equipment.
  • Comply with safety expectations set by company policy, OSHA, and trade best practices.
  • Perform all duties in a manner that supports a culture of teamwork and operational success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor in the spirit of supporting the overall success of the work area, team, operational business unit, and company.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned by your supervisor and be flexible and adaptable to changes that will occur during employment.

Requirements

  • Advanced lift truck experience and the ability to handle large materials.
  • Follow safety expectations set by company safety policies.
  • Able to lift 40-80 pounds throughout the workday.
  • Cooperative & agreeable listener who gets along with others and enjoys being helpful.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting exceptional teamwork of a larger work group.
  • Flexibility to work overtime hours as needed.
  • Experience operating material handling equipment such as a counter-balance forklift.
  • Ability to solve problems, persevere when challenged by excessing workload demands, outside working conditions, and working independently.
  • Strong ability to be self-motivated and flexible. Ability to work extra overtime hours as needed.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Basic computer and math skills.
